I am a designer, artist, fashion blogger, wife and mom.
I am originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota and relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in the spring of 2003 and went on to receive a B.F.A. in Visual Communications from O'More College of Design. From June 2007 to June 2010, I worked as a designer for Gaylord Hotels. In June 2010, I decided I would freelance design, and the chaos hasn't stopped since. On the side, I paint using oil and mixed-media on large format canvas, wood, and three-dimensional mounted pieces.
Inspiration // Anything really can inspire my work: from other designers, fine artists, and musicians, to a certain time period, a fashion editorial, a U2 song, or a foreign film. Inspiration can be drawn from unforeseen things also; a conversation with a friend, a friendship, or a quote remembered from my first drawing teacher. Another element I have been preoccupied with lately is the relationship between colors and how exactly they can relate to each other, the relationship between color and the artist, and the relationship between color and the viewer. Artist Paul Klee said, I don’t have to pursue it. It will possess me always, I know it. Color and I are one. I am a painter. Lately, in a sense, color has pursued me. Color has forced me to think outside the box when it comes to my work. Because of this, I am able to connect with my viewer at a vastly different level. I believe that this connects the artist and the viewer, which of course is the ultimate goal of an artist.
